Working with Sinister Star

Sinister Star provides photography, video, lyric video, graphic art, and design services through Trent Jacobs, based in Lakewood, Colorado. Questions about these terms can be sent to sinister666star@gmail.com.

These terms apply when you expressly agree to them in the inquiry form or a written project agreement. An inquiry is a request for a quote. It does not reserve a date, authorize a charge, or require you to purchase a service. Your accepted written quote or project agreement defines the job and controls any project-specific details that differ from these general terms, subject to applicable law.

Quotes, scope, and availability

Website prices and travel calculations are starting estimates in U.S. dollars. The final written quote identifies the services, deliverables, usage rights, timing, revisions, applicable taxes, and any agreed travel or production costs. Extra coverage, locations, revisions, formats, or other changes require an agreed update before additional charges are incurred.

Availability results show whether the requested time is currently available, not a guaranteed hold. Requested shoot times use Mountain Time in Denver. A booking is confirmed in writing after we agree on the details and the required deposit is received.

50% nonrefundable deposit

A nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the final quoted total is due upfront to confirm your booking. The deposit is credited toward your total; it is not an extra fee. If you cancel the booking, the deposit is nonrefundable except where a refund is required by applicable law.

Wait for your accepted quote and deposit invoice before paying. The written quote or invoice states when the remaining balance is due and any project-specific payment terms before a deposit is collected. Checking a box or opening a payment link does not count as paying the deposit.

Scheduling issues and rescheduling

If scheduling issues come up, contact me as soon as possible. Your existing deposit can be applied to a new date that we both agree on, subject to availability and written confirmation. A requested change does not automatically reserve a replacement date.

Changes to scope, location, travel, or production needs may change the total, but any additional cost must be agreed in writing. If you choose to cancel instead of rescheduling, the nonrefundable-deposit policy applies, subject to applicable law.

If I cannot provide the agreed service, or weather, venue restrictions, illness, or another event prevents the planned work, we will discuss an alternative date or solution. Any refund owed under applicable law or your written project agreement will be honored. This policy does not waive remedies for services that Sinister Star fails to provide.

Deliverables and revisions

Your written quote sets the deliverables, estimated delivery schedule, included revisions, and approved video sizes. Editing follows the agreed brief and the style shown in my portfolio. Event coverage depends on access, lighting, timing, and venue rules; coverage does not promise a photograph of every person or moment.

Raw photos, unedited footage, and editable project or source files are included only when expressly listed in the quote. Changes outside the agreed brief and additional revision rounds require an updated quote. If there is a delivery problem, email me with the details so we can address it.

Copyright and usage rights

Copyright in original work remains with its creator unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise. Payment for a project does not by itself transfer copyright ownership.

After full payment, you receive the usage rights described in the accepted quote, such as personal portrait use, band press and promotion, social media, release artwork, or merchandise. Commercial merchandise rights, exclusivity, and copyright transfers must be expressly included where requested. A merch-design quote should identify the permitted products and uses. Viewing or downloading a public portfolio preview does not grant permission to reuse it.

You must have permission to supply and use music, lyrics, logos, photos, fonts, or other materials you ask me to incorporate. Any stock or third-party assets remain subject to their own licenses. Permissions for promotional use of identifiable portrait clients and for minors are handled separately; this inquiry acknowledgment is not a model release.

Access, permissions, and safe working conditions

Provide accurate project details and identify access restrictions, permits, venue approvals, deadlines, and licensing needs before booking. Responsibilities for obtaining those permissions are confirmed in the quote. Work may need to pause or be rescheduled if required access or safe working conditions are unavailable; any resulting changes will be discussed with you.

The person agreeing to a booking must be at least 18 and authorized to act for the client or band. A parent or legal guardian must arrange bookings involving a minor. Do not submit sensitive personal information or payment credentials through the inquiry form.

Website and third-party services

Use this website lawfully and do not attempt to disrupt it, access private records, impersonate another person, or submit spam. Portfolio content, branding, and other site materials remain protected by their applicable rights.

Galleries, social platforms, maps, and payment providers linked from this site operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Payment credentials are entered with the payment provider, not in this inquiry form. The Privacy Policy explains how this site handles inquiry information and analytics.

Questions, applicable law, and updates

Contact sinister666star@gmail.com with booking concerns or a request for an accessible copy of these terms. Colorado law applies except where mandatory law requires otherwise. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights or other protections that cannot legally be waived.

The version and effective date appear on this page. Updates apply prospectively and do not automatically change an already agreed booking. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent allowed by law.
